Where the mobile application requests access to your camera or photo library, that access is used only for the functionality described at the time of the request.

3.5 Events and activities

If you register for or participate in a BJMM event, programme, meeting or activity, we may collect:

BJMM does not intentionally collect or store your full debit-card number, credit-card number, CVV, UPI PIN, net-banking password or other payment credentials on its own servers.

Payments may be processed through an independent payment gateway such as Razorpay or another payment service provider. Payment information entered on the payment provider's secure payment interface may be processed directly by that provider and is subject to the provider's own privacy policy and applicable laws.

Razorpay's current privacy materials, for example, describe the processing of customer and transaction data when payments are made through a merchant's payment infrastructure.

BJMM will not use WhatsApp or other communication channels to request your UPI PIN, card CVV, banking password or other confidential payment credentials.

You may opt out of non-essential communications where an opt-out mechanism is provided. Certain transactional, legal, security or service-related communications may still be sent where necessary.

4. Information Collected Automatically

When you use our website or mobile application, certain technical information may be collected automatically.

This may include:

We use this information primarily for security, authentication, troubleshooting, service operation and technical administration.

5. Mobile Application Permissions

The BJMM mobile application may request the following permissions depending on the platform and functionality:

Camera

Used to take a profile photograph or other photograph where the feature requires it.

If you decline access, you may still be able to select an existing photograph or use the application without a photograph, where supported.

Storage / Files

Where supported by your device, access may be used to save items such as a digital membership card, receipt or other document to your device.

You can manage notification permissions through your device settings.

BJMM does not intentionally use the application to access:

  • your contacts;
  • call logs;
  • SMS messages;
  • calendar;
  • microphone; or
  • precise device location,

unless a future feature specifically requires such access and appropriate disclosure and permission are provided.

6. Location Information

BJMM does not intentionally collect or continuously track your precise device location through the current mobile application.

Certain technical information, such as an IP address, may nevertheless be processed automatically when you access internet-based services. IP addresses may provide approximate geographic information as part of ordinary internet communications, security and fraud-prevention processes.

If BJMM introduces a location-based feature in the future, the applicable privacy disclosures and permissions will be updated before such functionality is introduced.

7. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • operate and secure the website;
  • maintain login or session functionality;
  • remember user preferences;
  • improve website performance;
  • understand technical usage;
  • prevent fraud or misuse; and
  • provide requested functionality.

Where required by applicable law, we will obtain consent before using non-essential cookies or similar technologies.

You may control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Some website functionality may not operate correctly if certain cookies are disabled.

BJMM does not sell personal data through cookies or use cookies for cross-site behavioural advertising unless this Privacy Policy is updated to expressly disclose such activity.

  • another lawful basis permitted by applicable law.

Where consent is required, we will provide an appropriate notice and mechanism for providing or withdrawing consent.

10. Member Directory and Public Information

Some BJMM services are designed to facilitate interaction among members.

11. Digital ID Card, QR Codes and Public Profiles

BJMM may provide a digital membership identity card containing a QR code or profile link.

Depending on the configuration of the service, scanning a QR code or accessing a profile link may allow a person to view selected membership information without signing into the application.

Users should therefore treat a BJMM digital ID card and QR code in a similar manner to a physical membership or business card.

BJMM may restrict, modify or discontinue public profile functionality where appropriate.

12. Guest Access

Certain BJMM services may be available without creating a full member account.

Guest users may be able to access selected public information, events, announcements or other features.

If a guest registers for an event or makes a payment, BJMM may collect the information necessary to process that registration or transaction.

Guest access does not automatically provide access to restricted member or business directories.

13. Sharing of Personal Data

BJMM does not sell, rent or trade personal data.

We may share personal data where reasonably necessary with:

Authorised BJMM personnel

Authorised employees, office bearers, committee members or volunteers may access personal data to the extent required for their responsibilities.

Where necessary, information may be shared with lawyers, auditors, accountants, consultants or other professional advisers subject to appropriate confidentiality obligations.

Corporate or organisational transactions

If BJMM undergoes a restructuring, merger, reorganisation or transfer of relevant activities, personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to applicable law and appropriate safeguards.

  • other technical services.

15. International Data Processing

BJMM serves members and users who may be located in India or outside India.

Depending on the technology providers used, personal data may be processed or accessed in countries other than the country in which you reside.

Where personal data is transferred outside India, BJMM will take such measures as are required under applicable Indian law, including restrictions or safeguards applicable to cross-border transfers.

Third-party providers may also independently process information in accordance with their own privacy policies and applicable laws.

19. Children's Data

The BJMM mobile application and member account functionality are primarily intended for adults.

BJMM does not knowingly permit children below the age of 18 years to independently create membership accounts where such accounts are restricted to adults.

However, members may provide information about family members, including children, where necessary for legitimate membership or family administration purposes.

Where a member provides information about a child, the member represents that they are the child's parent, legal guardian or otherwise authorised to provide the information.

BJMM does not knowingly use children's personal data for behavioural tracking, targeted advertising or profiling.

If you believe that information relating to a child has been submitted without appropriate authority, please contact BJMM using the contact details in this Privacy Policy.

20. Your Rights and Choices

Subject to applicable law, you may have rights relating to your personal data, including the right to:

Withdrawal of consent will not affect processing that:

23. Third-Party Websites and Services

The Services may contain links to third-party websites, payment pages, social-media platforms, event services or other external services.

Third-party websites and services operate under their own terms and privacy policies.

BJMM does not control and is not responsible for the privacy, security or data-processing practices of independent third parties.

You should review the privacy policy of any third-party service before providing personal information.

24. Payment Gateway

When you choose to make an online payment, you may be redirected to or shown a payment interface operated by a third-party payment service provider.

The payment provider may collect and process payment information necessary to complete the transaction.
